Dear Da’Vontrius,

Though many of us never got to meet you face to face, we’ve come to know your heart through the love of your mom. She speaks of you with such tenderness and pride—her handsome son, her artist, her sweet and special boy.

You were her one and only, and in her words, it’s clear that the 17 years God gave you to her were a precious gift. You filled her life with light, laughter, and love. She says you knew how deeply you were loved—and that love hasn’t stopped. It never will.

You had a gentle soul and a creative spark, pouring your heart into drawings and losing yourself in the world of video games. And while your time here was far too short, the impression you left on your mom’s heart—and now on all of ours—will never fade.

She misses you every day. And she holds onto the hope and the promise that one day, she’ll see you again. “Now only heaven awaits us,” she says. So until that day comes, DJ… wait for her. #777 #LLDJ
