Dear Lane,

Your family tells us how much joy and light you brought into the world. Born on April 16, 1996, you were a bright, fun, and brilliant spirit from the very start. Your love for school, family, friends, and especially baseball, shaped a life full of purpose and passion.

You gave your life to Jesus during the FUSION youth weekend, and from that moment, your heart for service and mission grew. You participated in youth mission trips, served your school by coaching the first Jr. High Baseball Team at Alpha Omega Academy, and excelled in college, earning a 4.0 while working at the Rec Sports Center of SHSU.

Lane, your life was full of love, laughter, and purpose. Though you were called home on Christmas of 2014, safe in the arms of Jesus, your legacy continues to inspire. The Lane Smith Classic at Alpha Omega Academy honors your memory, celebrates your love for baseball, and supports scholarships for seniors—an enduring reminder of your spirit.

Your family says it best: “It’s not the things we do, but WHY we do them—and that’s to glorify the Lord so we may spend eternity with Him.” Lane, you are deeply missed, forever loved, and your legacy lives on.

We can't wait for our reunion in heaven!
