Micah Alan McAfoose

Micah Alan McAfoose met Jesus face to face on January 20, 2023.

God called Micah home from the small town of Corrigan, Texas on his way back home from SFA in a tragic car accident. He was 18 years old.

From the day Micah was born, he was a man who needed no introduction. He wielded curly blonde hair, deep blue eyes, the brightest smile and the deepest laugh. At the age of five, Micah played his first game of baseball. He would go on to play in the legendary Cooperstown, New York, then for Cypress Ranch High School and Stephen F. Austin. It was on the baseball diamond where his connection to Waffle House was born with the promise that every home run would be rewarded with an All-Star Breakfast. Micah was a catcher his whole life, wearing the now-famous number 22.

Micah loved dinnertime, disc golf, Skip-Bo, country music, a good campfire, his dog Patches, and spending time with others. He could make just about anyone laugh with his quick wit and joyous, goofy grin and could fall asleep just about anywhere with his smiley-face pillow. He made friends everywhere he went – from the baseball field to the fine arts hallway and everywhere in between. At SFA, Micah forged relationships quickly. He and his friends referred to themselves as the “Sexy Seven,” spending time together regularly and inviting others in everything they did.

Micah was not shy about his faith in Jesus. He was heavily involved in the youth group at Cypress Bible Church, traveling on missions to Waco, New York City, and all throughout the greater Houston area. Every year, Micah made it a point to work as a “water boy” for Vacation Bible School. It was through his church that some of Micah’s deepest relationships took root. At SFA, Micah put together a small Bible study with his friends and had begun attending Grace Bible Church. His favorite Bible verse unsurprisingly comes from the book of Micah:

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

We can’t wait for our reunion in heaven.

Until then…

Micah Alan McAfoose, you are loved and never forgotten.

Much love,

First Touch Family
