Meet Samantha, mom of five children, and her baby girl Halo. Samantha is 32 weeks pregnant with Halo. When Samantha was 13 weeks pregnant the doctors did an ultrasound and told her they could not see Halo’s skull accurately. At her 20-week ultrasound, three days after Christmas, the doctors diagnosed her baby girl with Anencephaly. Anencephaly is a serious birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull. The doctors have said Halo is not compatible with life and will either be stillborn or pass away shortly after birth.
As if the emotional toll is not enough, this family is struggling financially. Mom is still working but does not qualify for family medical leave assistance, therefore has been told she will have to work all the way to delivery. We know when we walk the road of child loss, it is terribly difficult to focus. We cannot imagine walking in this mom’s shoes. Our desire is to give this mom and family the opportunity to focus on life with her baby and relieve the pressures of funeral planning and some of the financial burdens that have presented themselves in their journey. We have been able to help with maternity photos and newborn pictures, but need to raise funds to cover funeral costs, purchase a memorial stone, medical cost, counseling, and other expenses that present themselves through their child loss journey.
No donation is too small. Every penny counts. We are truly better together!
Much love,
First Touch Family
