November 23, 1987 ——
Dear TJ,
Your family tells us how deeply you were loved and how much of a fighter you were from the very beginning. From the moment you entered the world, they knew you were meant for them. Even at 5 years old, your battle with leukemia showed the power of prayer and the greatness of God.
They remember the heart you had for others, even in the midst of your own struggles. When you asked, “Mom, am I going to die?” it changed everything, yet your compassion never wavered. You even thought of others while in treatment—sending your Aunt to the gift shop to pick out the prettiest pair of ruby-colored clip-on earrings for your mom on Mother’s Day.
You loved to run long distances, perhaps as a way to find freedom from life’s challenges. Your faith was evident in your service and volunteering at The Methodist Church in The Woodlands, and there is no doubt you loved Jesus.
TJ, you went missing in October 2011 at the young age of 23, while studying physiology at Sam Houston. Though your family and friends do not yet know what happened, they remember your heart, your warrior spirit, and your desire to help others. They still long for answers, but take comfort in knowing that one day they will see you again in eternity.
Our warrior, our fighter, TJ—you overcame so much.
We can’t wait for our reunion in Heaven!
Until then…
You are loved, Thomas “TJ” Murray and never forgotten.
Much love,
Your First Touch Family
