Samuel (Sam) Murray

Samuel (Sam) Murray’s earthly experience ended August 4, 2021 when he entered heavens gates in the arms of Jesus. Samuel is son #4, of four boys, to Tom and Janelle Murray.

Dear Sam,

“Chef Sam.” Just hearing that nickname brings a smile—because it captures so much of who you were. You loved to cook, to create, to gather people around food and feed both their stomachs and their hearts. Your sauces were legendary, but even more legendary was your generosity. You would’ve given the shirt off your back if someone needed it. You lived to make others smile, to bring laughter where there was heaviness, and to show love in whatever form it was needed.

You loved your people fiercely—your family, your friends—and you loved life deeply. Whether you were casting a line into the water, adding to your rock collection, getting lost in the stars, or diving into a new video game, you were always present in the moment, soaking it in. Traveling stirred something in your soul. It was your way of exploring, learning, and living to the fullest.

Being the baby of four boys, you might’ve been a little spoiled in the early years—just ask your brothers. But the truth is, they adored you. Each one had a special bond with you, and the love between you ran deep. Losing TJ and William left holes that can never be filled. You carried that pain quietly, with a heart that was searching for healing—for beauty in the ashes.

You were a listener. A deep thinker. A soft heart with a big laugh and even bigger hugs. You didn’t pretend to be perfect, but you always tried to be real. And that realness drew people to you.

And Sam, you knew the Lord. You made that known. Your recent profession of faith and baptism gave your family such peace—knowing that even through all the struggles, your heart belonged to God. That is a comfort words can’t quite touch.

Your mom, Janelle, misses you with every fiber of her being. She said, “I miss his gigantic laugh, his big hugs, and his soft heart. Forever my baby ❤.” And that’s exactly who you’ll always be—her baby, their brother, our friend, a bright light who gave more than he ever took.

We wish we had more time. More meals around the table. More belly laughs. More ordinary, sacred moments. But we’re thankful for the ones we had—and we carry your memory forward with love, laughter, and grace.

We can’t wait for our reunion in heaven!

Until then…

You are loved, Samuel Murray, and never forgotten.

Much love,

Your First Touch Family
